UNTV’s Kaagapay and Autism Society Urge Awareness on Autism

UNTV‘s public service program Kaagapaywith the Autism Society of the Philippines (ASP), called for autism awareness with a seminar held last May 5 during the show’s 7th anniversary celebration at La Verdad Christian College in Caloocan City. 

Erlinda “Dang” Uy-Koe, chairman emeritus of ASP, graced the event and educated attendees and viewers on how to deal with persons with autism. She also underscored mass media’s role in driving awareness regarding this mental disorder.

JKA Talent Management also sponsored the seminar, extending help in nurturing the natural talent of the youth and “special individuals.”

To prove that people with autism can function normally in society, Christian Caragayan and Clarence Cruz, two “advocates” with autism, rendered a song to the delight of the crowd.

Clarence is considered to have the highest IQ among persons with autism.

ASOP Song of the Month: “Tanging Gabay” (Monthly Elimination – March 2014)

The dulcet song “Tanging Gabay” deeply written by Arniel Villagonza from Butuan City hit ASOP (A Song of Praise) Music Festival Song of the Month held on March 30.

The A Song of Praise Music Festival or ASOP is a songwriting festival on Philippine television open to all amateur and professional songwriters to pen splendid songs in praise of our Creator.

The amateur composer told that he was inspired to write the song of praise because of his child’s malady.

MCGI and UNTV Saves Lives with a Nationwide Bloodletting Campaign

A big thank you to MCGI and UNTV, also with their partners, the Philippine Blood Center and Philippine Red Cross, for their untiring support on this blood donation drive and by showing us the importance of this philanthropic act. Likewise, to all the blood donors for rolling up their sleeves to help save other people’s lives.

The Members Church of God International (MCGI) and UNTV-Your Public Service Channel, in collaboration with the Philippine Blood Center and Philippine Red Cross, successfully held yet another nationwide simultaneous mass bloodletting last March 16, 2014.

This countrywide humanitarian activity was held in almost fifty  MCGI Coordinating Centers and with approximately two thousand blood bags collected to once again help patients in need of blood transfusions.

According to the Department of Health, a blood bag contains three essential components – plasma, pack red blood cells and platelets which can prolong life of three people who can benefit from it.

Meralco Gym (March 7, 2014)Senate-Defenders squad and Malacañang-Patriots will slug it out during the first game of the weekly elimination round of UNTV Cup Season 2 on March 9 this year, at 3 p.m. at the Meralco Gym.

After losing its bid versus Philhealth Advocates last week, Team Senate’s record went down to 1-1.

Senate Defenders  head coach Lino Ong stressed what his team needs: more adjustments to further strengthen their campaign this season of the country’s first public service basketball tournament with no less than key government agencies joining as participants.

“Malaking adjustment ang gagawin namin in terms of as a team and as a player”, Ong said. (We will make big adjustment in terms of as a team and as a player.)

Moreover, Team Senate aims to maximize the strengths of its assets: Senate’s two ex-PBA players Zaldy Realubit and Kenneth Duremdez.
