Overseas Filipino Workers or OFWs are Filipinos who leave the country to work and search better opportunities abroad. They are working very hard in the foreign land to support necessary needs of their families in the Philippines. They also save some of their earnings to put up a business and invest some properties for them to use once they come back home after end of their work contract or upon retirement. Some of them leap at the chance to get their loved ones in the Philippines, to migrate and settle there.
However, being a OFW is not easy. OFWs are often deemed as modern-day heroes. They sacrifice so many things after choosing to leave their home country in exchange of greener pastures. OFWs face trials and sufferings of many kinds on their life abroad and not all Filipinos hoping for opulence as a OFW obtained successful result. There were news that some OFWs experienced abuse or maltreatment of their employers, not given the correct wages and snubbed the benefits being stated and agreed in the contract, and also victimized by illegal recruitment. Few reasons why some Filipinos moved back home disheartened and crying because of bad experiences in the foreign countries.
